A Monday Mish Mash

Yep, it's a Monday mish mash (HT: Susanne for the title). Just to clarify: a mish mash, Monday or otherwise, is not to be confused with a status report, though there certainly are similarities (one being filler as opposed to like a real blog post).

-------

Speaking of the status report, I was totally joking with Joy. Bless her heart, she thought I might have been trying to be funny, but then she remembered it was ME (who hasn't a funny bone in her body) so she wasn't sure. Just to clear the air: I was not mad at Joy. I was merely making a poor attempt at sarcastic humor. Yeah, I know, I know. I can't do humor. By the way, do you read Joy's blog? If you don't, you should. That girl can write!

Look what came in the mail Friday!

I have several books in a holding pattern waiting to be read and reviewed, but I confess I pushed them all aside. I am a regular reader of Carolyn's blog so I am excited for the opportunity to read her newest book. I've already started, and what I've read so far, I like. A lot. I'll try to give you a heads up when my review is posted over at 5 Minutes for Books.

--------

Speaking of books, yesterday I held, touched, looked at, and marveled over a collection of books, some of which were hundreds of years old. Like a copy of Calvin's commentary published in the 1500's. Yes, you read that right. Can you imagine? The beauty of the lettering, the binding, some volumes containing hand painted illustrations--it was surreal. Treasures. Leatherbound art, our friend said. Our friends are true collectors, self confessed book addicts. We could not see their entire collection as it numbers in the tens of thousands!

My boys told me on our way home: "Gee, Mama, we only thought you had a bunch of books!" After seeing the real deal, I'm not sure I can even claim bibliophile status any more!

--------

Oh yeah, we had a great time Saturday night at Lisa's church! Good food, good fellowship, good friends, the good Word--all gifts from our good God, the Giver of all good things! Lisa has a great bunch of church girls and it was my privilege and pleasure to spend an evening in their company. I pray the Lord will reap a great harvest of clay pots eager and willing to be vessels of His glory even in their weakness! To God alone be the glory!

Happy Monday!
