On My Nightstand-January

What's On Your Nightstand

Time once again for 5 Minutes for Books' monthly roundup where book lovers and readers everywhere post what we're reading, just finished reading or about to begin reading. So, here's what's on my "nightstand"...

Recently finished:
Burn by Ted Dekker and Erin Healy. Watch for my review at 5 Minutes for Books but the short version is: it's different (hello, it's Ted Dekker) but it's good. I liked it.

Currently reading:
Finally Alive by John Piper

For Bible study:
Holiness: The Heart God Purifies by Nancy Leigh Demoss

Reviewing for my upcoming teaching in Nicaragua:
Brokenness: The Heart God Revives and Surrender: The Heart God Controls by Nancy Leigh Demoss

Up next:
The Secret of Shadow Ranch (Nancy Drew #5) by Carolyn Keene OR
The Three Musketeers by Dumas

What are YOU reading? Link up at 5 Minutes for Books and let us know!

  2. I want to read Finally Alive, too. I’ll look forward to what you have to say about it. As well as the Nancy Leigh Demoss book. I’m a fan.

Praying for your Nicaragua trip. It will be here soon!

  4. I'm still always surprised that you like Dekker. I'll look forward to your review, of course. My sibs-in-law LOVE Dekker and I cannot fathom the fascination so you catch me off guard and make me rethink things! (That's a good thing.) I'd love to hear your reasons as to why you like him if you wouldn't mind sharing at some point.

In the meantime, The Secret of Shadow Ranch. That's something I can more easily understand. =D

  5. I've never read any John Piper, and I just lately decided that I wanted to. Is there one that you'd recommend?

Desiring God is the one I associate with him, but actually I'd really like to read Don't Waste Your Life at some time for sure.

  6. Great list! You are so far ahead of me in the Nancy Drew books. I haven't even started the 2nd one yet. I'm not the quick reader you are.

  7. I am on hold at the library for Burn. I have wanted to read the Musketers for awhile but the length and wording have put me off. I read other classics though.

  8. Ah, the Three Musketeers is one that I've never read, although I believe I've seen a ton of movie adaptations of those characters at least. :)

  10. On my night stand is Heaven by Randy Alcorn. Getting ready to begin the Nancy Leigh DeMoss Bible Study Lies Women Believe at church. Starting a new A to Z mystery book with my 7 year old son tonight. I will find out what his dad and him picked out at the library when I get home. Finally, I'm reading Be Determined (Nehemiah) out of Warren Wiersbe's Be series and the book of Nehemiah for Sunday School.

  11. OOO I didn't know John Piper had another book out. I'll have to check into it. 90 Minutes in Heaven is the only book I've seen my husband read in the 15+ years we've been married. We both loved it!
