Just a quick good morning from The Gospel Coalition's Women's Conference! We arrived yesterday and spent most of our afternoon upon arrival shopping (and riding the trolley to and from the shopping venue, but that's another not-so-very pleasant story). After a long day of travel and shopping and other fun and not-quite-so-fun we were exhausted and glad to crash in the hotel room last night!
We are taking the morning slow since the conference doesn't begin until later this afternoon. There are some pre-conference workshops we may attend, particularly John Piper's, and of course we'll be checking out the bookstore. The official conference kicks off at 4 with Tim Keller. It's going to be a great day!
I was thinking yesterday as I was packing up my suitcase about the various teachers who will be speaking this weekend, many of whom have been quite influential in my walk. I'm no groupie but some of these men and women are among my heroes in the faith: Nancy Guthrie, Nancy Leigh Demoss, Kathleen Nielson. I've benefited greatly from their commitment to Biblical instruction and their passion for the Lord's glory.
And John Piper. The Lord providentially brought a couple of his books and then the Desiring God website into my life at a time when I was testing what I believed and seeking a deeper understanding of the things of the Lord and I am grateful for his ministry and the impact it has had on my faith. I am indebted to him for his faithful service to the Lord!
So, as I said, we have a big day ahead and we are quite excited (you can see our schedule here). Our theme is "Here is Our God: God's Revelation of Himself in Scripture." We are eagerly anticipating seeing the Lord revealed through His Word as we seek Him alongside women from around the globe!
But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation
say continually, “Great is the Lord!” Ps. 40:16
Great is the LORD!
